Chiropractor

Nutritionist

What's different about me as a therapist?
Over your life time I'm sure you have seen a number of therapists including chiropractors, physiotherapists, registered massage therapists, osteopaths, and personal trainers. How many of them have multiple professional designations? Probably very few.
My name is Diana Cho and I am a chiropractor, registered massage therapist, a personal trainer, and a Nutritionist. As a therapist with multiple designations means that I am better able to help you integrate all your issues relating to muscle/tendon/joint/nerve and injury/physical pain issues as well as nutritional needs, whatever your goal is, as one therapist. I can provide all the abovementioned services as one individual. You will not need to explain your issues to more than one person, and we can work together to better determine which service or combination of services best suit you - at what optimal frequencies. You will benefit from the extensive healthcare knowledge I have gained from my years of formal training.
This includes:
3 years in undergraduate education Nursing School
4 years in the Doctor of Chiropractic post-undergraduate professional program
2 years education in a Diploma Massage Therapy program
3 years in Master of Health Management program
You will also benefit from over 18 years of working experience that I have gained with everyday people just like yourself seeking relief and the optimization of health.
Have confidence and trust in knowing that any types of treatments proposed to treat your condition will be clearly explained to you along with its risks and benefits. You will ultimately decide what treatments are most comfortable and suitable for you.
Chiropractic manipulations are NOT a must in my treatments.
There are other forms of treatments such as mobilizations of the joints (non-cracking techniques to gently lessen stiffness in the joints) that are also performed by other licensed health professionals, such as Registered Massage Therapists and Physiotherapists, that can address joint issues which can be equally effective. So please do not let this to be the only reason preventing you from seeking chiropractic care. I invite you to speak to me to discuss any questions or concerns you may have prior to initiating care - I would be delighted to clarify it for you. Please also feel free to see the 'Physical Rehab' page for more information on the types of techniques that are typically provided by myself.
The Way I Treat
Diana has a passion for providing physical rehabilitation of the body through conservative (i.e. non-surgical) means. She believes the most effective approach to addressing muscle, tendon, nerve, bone and joint disorders and issues are to address both the soft tissues (any tissues other than bones) as well as the bones and joints together in order to achieve optimal results for physical functioning. As such, she pursued formal training in Massage Therapy and a post-graduate 4-year training in the Doctor of Chiropractic program to achieve her goals. She also received formal training in Personal Training to further integrate exercise principles into her treatments.
A typical session includes treatment of the soft tissues - delivered using myofascial release therapy (aka Active Release Technique) and using a metal tool to release fascial restrictions (aka Rock Blade). This is followed by gentle joint mobilizations to decrease joint stiffness. Finally, the application of electrical currents plus heat/cold, or therapeutic ultrasound to further decrease tension, pain and inflammation. Stretching and strengthening exercises are integrated into the treatment regimen early on to incorporate an active approach to treatment ensuring a faster recovery. Many of the techniques employed in each session overlap with those also used by physiotherapists on a regular basis - just billed under chiropractic benefits. Because I enjoy treating a variety of injuries in the physical body (related to the spine but also of the arms, legs and feet for example), it is necessary to employ different treatment techniques that are specifically targeted for different tissues of the body including muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and nerve issues to achieve optimal results.
When not working, Diana enjoys weight training and engaging in different fitness activities in general, and also alpine skiing, ice skating, swimming and road cycling.
